Botswana is a landlocked country situated in the centre of southern Africa. Located in the northern part of the country, the Okavango Delta is a wondrous wetland within a desert, and is one of the largest inland delta systems in the world, an area of 16 000 sq. km (6 000 sq. miles) filled with water channels, lagoons and islands. The Delta is inscribed by UNESCO World Heritage List as the 1000th member in 2014. With a record of almost 600 bird species, Botswana offers unique birding experience coupled with other highlights for this journey – 2nd largest zebra migration, mokoro ride on river to observe waterbirds in close distance.

This is a special itinerary curated to highlight the exceptional summer bird migrants in Botswana, and the amazing scenery available during the “green” season in the Okavango Delta. Part of the proceeding will be contributed to support the work of Hong Kong Bird Watching Society.
Hong Kong Bird Watching Society (HKBWS), which is the only local civil society aiming at appreciating and conserving Hong Kong birds and natural environment, was established in 1957. HKBWS was recognized as an approved charitable institution of a public character in 2002. At the moment, HKBWS has nineteen full-time staffs and our volunteers also help a lot in various aspects such as leading birdwatching activities. There are more than 1,700 local and overseas members and the membership number is increasing.
